Not what you were expecting?

The Mofo knows, but here the Mofo out.

You can bitch and you can moan all you want about the Jersey Shore gimmick. You can bitch and moan all you want about paying some third rate celebrity a reported $15,000 to show up on Impact. You can bitch and moan over and over about how they’ll screw it up, how it won’t be worth the money, or whatever, but one thing The Mofo can’t understand is that people are bitching and moaning about they are doing this angle with a newcomer.

Okay, The Mofo understands that for a celebrity angle to mean something that it has to be the right celebrity and it has to be with a top guy. Okay fine, but can’t we all just take off our negativity hats for a minute and give TNA credit for this: The are spending money, bringing in a celebrity, and giving a high profile spot to a NEW GUY! Not someone who’s been there for years. Not someone who came from WWE, but a brand new guy. They are actually going all out here to try and get him over and give him the rub. In The Mofo’s opinion that in and of itself deserves at least some love. They could’ve given this to anyone, but they gave it to Robbie E and The Mofo is happy to see it.

Rob seemed like a genuinely nice guy who’s worked really hard to get an opportunity and a shot and the Mofo is damn glad to see it so on this front the Mofo is gonna say Hooray for TNA! Hooray for Robbie E!!!

People love to complain. The Mofo gets that, but the Mofo was looking at the airplanespin board the other day and saw the lineup for VCW’s next show on July 31st at The Hellenic Community Center at 60 Traverse Rd. in Norfolk, VA then thought about what NWA Fusion is doing and what GXW and SPW are doing and realized how great fans in VA have it right now.

You have Fusion doing old school, storyline focused, southern style pro-wrestling with great workers and promos with fresh matchups and angles. The next Meltdown taping on July 17th will reveal the secrets of the American Ranger’s unbelievable alliance with his arch-nemesis Sheik Ali Akbar, Preston Quinn and Larry Horsley will face Da New Bloodz for the NWA Fusion Tag Team Titles, Sean Denny will defend the Alpha Championship against his brother Marky D, and much more.

VCW has taken almost the “Super Indy” tact of bringing names to the area and what’s better they are putting them against locals guys and giving local guys great opportunities. Kermon getting to work with Necro. The Set working with Claudio and Hero. Esco and CW. Great stuff there. For any local fan who’s been talking about how much they’ve been wanting to see this exact thing they better get their butts to this show or just never speak again. Hell it’s interesting enough that the Mofo would consider going, but he’ll be in Tampa that weekend.

GXW and SPW are concentrating on training the young guys and giving them experience working in front of crowds and putting on shows all around their areas.

Basically, whatever it is you want as a wrestling fan you can find in Virginia right now. So get your butts out there and support them.

So what do you guys think? Is this a golden age for VA Indies?

So The Airplane Spin call for award nominations went out and the Mofo decided to post his nominations here. He’ll probably post his national nominations or maybe not. The Mofo’s picks for the winners will come later.

Breakout Star of the Year:

CA Elliott and Assault and Battery

CA Elliott: The Mofo has worked with CA longer than most guys having hung around with him in KYDA and VCW and now pushed hard to get him as part of Fusion. The Mofo has always really liked CA as a person, but for a long time was not a fan of CA as a worker. The Mofo has told CA that many times. CA is a great athlete and can do any move he wants, but that for a long time that was his greatest asset and his biggest problem. Over the last several months, The Mofo has seen CA start to get it and start to understand that the key to getting over isn’t doing the most moves. He’s done a good job of working on his character and working to get the crowd involved in his matches. His push in VCW and getting to work with better guys has certainly helped as has the focused push in Fusion, but CA has shown that he was ready for the spot in both cases.

Assault and Battery: The best tag teams cover for each other’s weaknesses. Victor Griff is the worker and Carlos is the showman. That’s not to say Griff doesn’t have a character because the guy is doing some quality heeling every time out and Carlos’s ringwork is getting better. These guys have been tag champs in two companies in the state this year and people can claim that belts don’t mean anything, but if you put your belts on someone you don’t think it worthy of it then you’re an idiot. A&B are getting belts because they’ve earned them.

Most Hated Heel:

Mark Bravura and QSic

Mark Bravura: People hate the Mofo. GXW. VCW. Fusion. People in Virginia love dog killers, but hate the Mofo. Don’t try to understand it just accept it.

QSic: There wasn’t a hotter wrestler in the area at the beginning of the year than QSic. They got him over as a true psychopathic heel which the Mofo didn’t think was really possible in this date and time on the indies, but they did it. Unfortunately from that point on circumstances in VCW got twisted and tangled and the nearly perfect storyline that had been created for QSic over the previous nearly two years fell apart over the course of the year. As much as the Mofo loves PQ that belt should’ve never come of QSic as hot as he was.

Most Loved Babyface:

Sean Denny, Jimmy Cicero, and Phil Brown:

Senny Denny: The Mofo talked about this back when he did the top ten. Sean has captured that essential “babyfaceness” that so few guys are ever able too. Fans LOVE Sean. LOVE him. They truly care about him. They want to be his friend. They want to hang out with him. They feel his every bump. Sean has a connection with the fans that’s amazing. His selling is great. His bumping is great. His offense works. He knows how to work as a babyface like few others. He understands how important getting his opponent over is to getting himself over. There is no better babyface in the area.

Jimmy Cicero: The Mofo loves him some Jimmy Cicero. Cic has a better understanding of psychology than anyone else in the area. Anyone. The guy has been everywhere and worked everyone and it shows. He’s an effective heel, but when it comes to working as a babyface that’s where he really shines. Jimmy’s comeback inspired by his sons’ autism has really resonated with people. The inspiration behind Cicero’s return is real and the people recognize that and really get behind him.

Phil Brown: Phil’s been working more as a heel this year and really has only been a babyface in Ground Xero. The Mofo honestly feels that pushing Phil as a heel is like trying to swim upstream. Yeah you can do it and maybe do it well, but it’s gonna be a hell of a lot of work and going the other way would probably work a heck of a lot better. Phil is just such a likable guy that it’s hard to get people to hate him or boo him. They want to like him. They want to cheer him.

Feud of the Year:

Mark Bravura vs. Sean Denny and Pharoah vs. Eddie Diamond

Mark Bravura vs. Sean Denny: The most hated heel vs. the most loved babyface. Sneak attacks. Injuries. Family members. Managers. Girlfriends. And great promos on both sides. The feud has lasted most of the year and is hotter now than its been at any point.

Pharaoh vs. Eddie Diamond: It started with the heavyweight champ, the veteran heel against the Respect Champion, the underdog youngster babyface. They went back and forth and had a best of seven series that just got hotter and hotter. By the end, the veteran was so impressed with the heart of the youngster that he sees the error of his evil ways, the youngster earns his respect and the veteran turns babyface. Well done all around.

Most Improved:

Eddie Diamond, Victor Griff, and Mitchapalooza

Eddie Diamond: Started the year as a green clueless rookie who took really good bumps. Over the course of the year his ringwork has developed and more importantly his character, selling, and working has developed. Go to a GXW show and listen to every crowd chant “Eddie, Eddie” and you’ll understand. Eddie’s at the top of the list of guy’s in the area the Mofo hasn’t worked with that he wants to work with.

Victor Griff: Most improved heel of the year. Griff can still be a little green and stiff at times, but he’s really improved over the course of the year. His offense has the element of credibility that is hard for guys to develop, but he has. His heeling is great. The cockiness and prick attitude he exudes is great.

Mitchapalooza: Night and day. Last year at this time Mitch was having stinkers with Gamble. No real connection with the crowd. No great idea what he’s trying to do, but over that last year that’s really changed. Mitch is over HUGE at GXW because he’s started to figure what it takes to get over with the crowd. Guys will poo poo this, but working with Martin Stanley Fouqua has really helped him here. MSF is no great in ring worker, but people do not like him at all and working with him has been great for Mitch. His selling and fire have improved tremendously over the year.

Referee of the Year:

Dustin Pruitt

Dustin Pruitt: Dustin is the best referee The Mofo has ever worked with bar none. Always in the right spot. Knows how all the spots work. His facial expressions and reactions do as much to get the match over as the guys working the match. Can’t ask for anything else.

Promotion of the Year:

NWA Fusion, VCW, GXW

NWA Fusion: Focused storylines, diverse talent, passionate fans, great lockerroom, no drama, shows that always deliver.

VCW: Draw more fans than the other groups, bring in outside names, good action, great venues.

GXW: Ran more shows than anyone else, always put on an enjoyable show even if the in ring isn’t always as good, underrated in-ring work especially toward the top, dedicated crew.

Show of the Year:

NWA Fusion December, NWA Fusion March, NWA Fusion May

NWA Fusion December:

Mark Bravura d. Sean Denny by DQ, Jimmy Cicero/The Set d. Mike Booth/The Sheik’s Army, Preston Quinn/Grail d. Jefferson Early and Bobby Shields in a no-dq match, American Ranger d. Horrorshow by DQ, Damien Wayne d. Phil Brown, Tex d. Zach Hilton, Assault and Battery d. Da Nu Bluds, CA Elliott d. Logan Hodge, Brandon Day d. Shorty Smalls

NWA Fusion March
-”Mempho Mofo” Mark Bravura successfully defended the Alpha title against “Geordie Bulldog” Sean Denny.
2-Krotch b Grail
3-Mark Bravura retained the Alpha title over Preston Quinn
4-American Ranger b Vulstag
5-Da New Bloodz b The New Gods of Wrestling (Jefferson Early & Brandon Morgan) to retain tag titles
6-16-man Royal Rumble for a Continental title shot won by Sean Denny
7-Mike Booth retained the Continental title over Damien Wayne

Tag Team of the Year

Assault and Battery and Da Nu Bluds

Assault and Battery: Tag Team Champs in VCW, Tag Team Champs in NWA Fusion

Da Nu Bluds: Tag Team Champs in VCW, Tag Team Champs in GXW

Manager of the Year

Marcus Dowling and Sheik Ali Akbar

Marcus Dowling: The Mofo’s been campaigning for Marcus to get down here for years and Marcus showed why. Cutting great promos and being the best ringside worker there is.

Sheik Ali Akbar: Is there anyone on the planet more committed to his gimmick? Watching the Sheik cut promos with the Army makes the Mofo love pro-wrestling again.

Rookie of the Year

Zach Hilton and Deacon Strickland

Zach Hilton: The Mofo may be more entertained by Zach Hilton than anyone else right now. His stuff with CA has been brilliant. Everything you give the kid he does and takes to another level. His moves are good. His selling is good. His promos are fun. He has no problems showing his ass. If he learns to work then he’s gonna be great. Mark it down.

Deacon Strickland: As good of an athlete as there is in the business. Yeah all of it. There’s nothing this kid can’t do. The Mofo is constantly amazed by what he pulls of in matches. Just amazed. Plus like Hilton, he has a great attitude. If he can get his working down and develop his character and promos then the sky is the limit.

Wrestler of the Year:

“Big Time” Mike Booth, Pharaoh, “The Mempho Mofo” Mark Bravura

Before talking about each guy, The Mofo is going to explain his criteria for wrestler of the year. As far as The Mofo is concerned if you are going to be The Wrestler of the Year then you should on top of close to on top somewhere for most of the year. You should be expected to at least somewhat carry a promotion. The main promotions in the area are NWA Fusion, Ground Xero Wrestling, and Vanguard Championship Wrestling. Expoland Wrestling Entertainment will be more prominent this year, but they only ran two shows last year so some can’t qualify as Wrestler of the Year simply based of EWE. KYDA ran a few shows as well, but not enough to have anyone considered for their KYDA work.

“Big Time” Mike Booth: Mike Booth was THE guy in Fusion for the entire year. He main evented almost every show. He had great matches with Damien Wayne, Preston Quinn, Sean Denny, and Jimmy Cicero. He’s been a champion in every aspect of the word.

Pharaoh: The Mofo has more experience with GXW than most people in the area and has seen more GXW shows than most people on the board. Pharaoh has been the guy in GXW since last December. As a heel he had heat, now as a babyface he’s over with the fans. He’s done a good job of staying fresh and working with a lot of different guys. Phil Brown. Mark Bravura. Eddie Diamond. Deimos.

“The Mempho Mofo” Mark Bravura: The Mofo is the greatest. Everyone knows it.

So you may have read that and asked “Where’s the VCW Nomination?” Well let’s be honest here. Though a confluence of various circumstances VCW hasn’t been able to have a focused push for their top guys throughout the year. To start the year, QSic was hotter than anyone in the area as the dominant champ, but PQ had gotten hot as a babyface and QSic had been on top for awhile and considering who was coming in in a few months it made sense to have a babyface champion. Unfortunately, The title change came at the end of a LONG show that was snakebit by no-shows and license problems and by being a street fight in a state that doesn’t allow blood. By the time the match got in the ring the crowd was burned out and things came off flat. From there PQ went to Tonic because the show was in Tonic’s home town and because of politics had to actually drop a fall to a guy who had been an undercard guy, then what looked like a promising program with Christian York started, but their first match only went 6 minutes and then York retired and the planned program with Raven got all screwed up. Then Raven was going to work with Sid on top so Raven needed to get the belt, but Raven treated the match like a joke and turned QSic from a killing machine into a lacky and that came off flat. Then Sid no showed so those plans fell apart which led to the giant clusterfuck at the end of the summer which screwed up everything that had been built towards and the company was left scrambling. They were starting to move towards a more focused plan when their December show happens on the same date as the biggest snowstorm in decades and it gets screwed up because nobody can get there. So all that leads to the first of the Mofo’s Write In Nominations.

Snakebit Promotion of the Year:

VCW

Comeback of the Year:

Jimmy Cicero: Cicero coming back and working extensively in the area has been the best thing to happen to wrestling in the area in years. So much knowledge. So much ability. Everyone who works with him is better for it.

Loss of the Year:

Chris Escobar: The Mofo is a big Esco fan. The guy can flat out go, but two broken legs kept him from working much at all for the entire year and Virginia has been much worse off because of it. The Mofo for one definitely hopes that 2010 is much better to Esco than 2009 was. He deserves an injury and drama free year.

Story of the Year:

The VCW clusterfuck. Tons of controversy tons of talk. The problems it caused for the company are still being felt and shaking out.

Spot of the Year:

The Set making one Hallstar piledrive the other Hallstar. The greatest babyface comedy spot ever, but don’t EVER do it as heels.

Announcer of the Year:

Cameron Turk: Does a great job every time out whether it’s as a heel commentator in VCW or as the play by play guy in Fusion. His team with Marcus Dowling is money.

Development of the Year:

EWE working closely with ROH: The Mofo has heard guys shit talking this. Why? Guys from ROH coming down and seeing local talent can only be good for everyone.

Gimmick of the Year:

Sheik Ali Akbar’s Army of Destruction: All you have to do is see the Sheik standing next to The Hatriot, Krotch, Vulstagg and Horrorshow and you’ll know why.

Spot Thievery of the Year:

Festus using the Gas Mask: The move hasn’t been used ANYWHERE in almost ten years and a few weeks after the Hatriot uses it on Meltdown, Festus sorry Luke Gallows breaks it out for finish on Smackdown. The Mofo doesn’t believe in coincidence.

Best Non-Wrestling Segment:

Sean Denny assaulting Spencer Chestnutt for letting Marky D wrestle Mark Bravura: Go back and watch the show open for NWA Fusion Meltdown Episode 15 it’s brilliant. Both guys are absolutely perfect in their roles. The national companies should do something that compelling and real.

A long time ago a very smart man told me that the easiest way to understand human nature was with one simple question… Who Benefits?

So watching Monday Night Wars v2.0 last night the Mofo started asking himself who benefits. Well some of them are obvious:

Hulk Hogan: Before TNA came calling Hogan was the brink of obscurity from anything other than the tabloids. He was facing serious financial distress without much in the way of potential income. He was coming off a serious flop of an Australia tour. Now he’s the centerpiece of the number two promotion in the country and what’s more that promotion can’t afford for him to fail. TNA has hitch their wagon to Hogan so totally that it would take an act of god for him to lose power.

Kevin Nash: He was in a mid-card angle with Eric Young, but now he’s in the company’s top angle.

Ric Flair: He was in a similar situation to Hogan. Financial trouble. Australia flop. No WWE interest. Now he going to be a major focus for the number two company in the country. He does, however, have to work with two guys he’s always claimed to hate in Russo and Bischoff.

Scott Hall: Two weeks ago he was trying to get gigs as an announcer for indie groups in Arkansas on the back of working with Sid. Now he’s in the top angle in TNA.

Sean Waltman: Mid-card in Mexico to the top angle in TNA. From everything I’ve heard about Waltman in Mexico he was reliable and his work was good so he could have the most upside of anyone in this group.

Jeff Hardy: Facing indictment for felony drug charges, he gets a contract and a big spot in another company.

Former WWE Mid-Carders: Orlando Jordan, Val Venis, Nasty Boys, Shannon Moore. Hell DeAngelo Dinero went over on Desmond Wolfe. I doubt it stops there. I’m willing to bet there will be more “surprises” next week and the week after. And let’s be honest there could be value in all of these guys, but not if they just trot them out as the same guys. Orlando Jordan has improved immensely since he left the WWE, give him a make over and a new character that people can take seriously so they don’t see him as the guy who was at the bottom of the card in WWE. Sean Morley is a really good worker and a really good promo, but the Val Venis character was played out 8 years ago, let the guy do something new. A quick garbage match feud between Team 3D and Knobbs and Saggs could be fine filler. Shannon Moore with a makeover could have value. Its up to TNA to make it happen.

TNA: They got their record rating on Monday. That’s a win. They’ve gotten a ton of talk as of late. Now they have to capitalize on it. If the Mofo were them he would be pushing the next PPV like crazy starting the first moments of the next show. If they don’t do a record buyrate on their next PPV then this win quickly becomes a loss. Considering all of the money that they are putting out in new payroll increasing their buyrates is the only conceivable way that they can stay solvent.

WWE: All TNA has to do is raise their ratings some. All they have to do is annoy Vince McMahon. If that happens Vince will get motivated and a motivated Vince is a dangerous Vince and that can only be good for the WWE.

Wrestling Fans: The Mofo will admit it. He was flipping back and forth all Monday night and was spending more time on Spike than he was on USA. They scored a 1.5 on Monday Night. They’ve gotta be doing cartwheels over that. That’s gotta be enough for them to consider moving to Monday night. That head to head battle can only be good for the fans.

Indie Wrestlers: Now if Vince chooses to ignore TNA then not so much, but if TNA’s ratings improve and the WWE has to react then you have to figure that they will go into a talent acquisition mode like they did back when WCW became a threat. Think of all the guys that they signed when WCW signed away all their stars. Edge, Austin, Rock, Christian, Val, Albert, Test, HHH, the Hardys, Kurt Angle, ect, ect. There are a lot of guys right now hoping and praying for TNA’s success.

Of course for everyone who benefits there are also those that lose:

ROH: The Mofo honestly forgot that they were on Monday night. If TNA moves to Monday permanently then it would be hard to believe that ROH’s already small audience would stick around. ROH is really going to have to work to differentiate themselves if they are going to carve out their place in the marketplace.

ROH wrestlers: Just when it looked like there was going to be a run on ROH guys it looks like most of their spots have been gobbled up by former WWE guys.

Non-former WWE TNA midcarders: Eric Young: barely on the show, Beer Money: only appearance was getting laid out, Matt Morgan/Hernandez: 60 second squash match, Abyss/Samoa Joe: throw away match, Daniels: not on the show, Homicide: punked by Hardy (and WTF with that chair shot! Damn.) Creed, Suicide, Lethal, Machine Guns, World Elite, British Invasion: shoved in a horrible throwaway match or not on the show. It’s going to be tough to carve out their place with all of these new acquisition.

Indie Wrestlers Who Don’t Fit the WWE Cookie Cutter: Yeah the Mofo put Indie Wrestlers on the Benefits, but this could be terrible the ones who don’t have the look/height the WWE seems to want. If Vince doesn’t get motivated and go on an acquisition spree then The Mofo can’t see there being a lot of space for new unknown guys. TNA just filled almost a dozen new spots with former WWE guys, it doesn’t look like they will be looking for any unknowns any time soon so anyone under 6’3″ could be s.o.l.

So what do you think? Who benefits most from Monday Night Wars v2.0? Who loses the most?

The Mofo was originally gonna talk about his awards for 2009 and his look ahead at 2010, but those are going to have to wait after the events of tonight. You know originally the Mof was not enthused by the prospect of the Monday Night Wars returning. Typically, the Mofo DVRs the shows and watches them of fast forward while doing something else. The prospect of Hulk Hogan running the show wasn’t enough to get the Mofo interested in tuning in to TNA live head to head with raw even as it became more and more apparent that TNA was throwing money at everyone they could think of to beef up the name recognition on their January 4th show the Mofo still wasn’t all that interested. Then the WWE announced Bret Hart and for the Mofo TNA might as well have canceled their show in the Mofo’s mind. Bret was basically the nuclear bomb of surprises then only thing anyone could pull out that might be bigger at this point might be Rock wrestling a match.

Tonight though a funny thing happened, the Mofo found himself tuning in to Spike at 8 and not changing the channel. The Mofo was actually interested in what they were doing. Sure the Mofo was on USA at 9pm to see Bret, but as the shows went on The Mofo found himself wanting to check out TNA more than WWE. Now the Mofo is sure he’s in the minority on that, but hell the Mofo definitely was surprised that wanted to see what TNA was doing more he wanted to see if Bret was back on the screen. Now we all know Russo’s track record of writing a great chapter one and being a train wreck from then on. While this definitely wasn’t how the Mofo would’ve booked the whole deal, the Mofo could definitely see how fans would be interested and into the first Impact of the Monday Night Wars v2.0 era.

On the other side of the fence, the Mofo has to say he was disappointed in what the WWE presented. The Mofo can understand the reasoning behind the Shawn/Bret, stuff and the Vince/Bret stuff even if he would’ve done it differently, but the rest of the show just didn’t seem like a good showcase for the the new talent to be shown off to the additional eyeballs that were going to be watching. The Mofo heard people he hasn’t heard mention wrestling in years talking about watching Raw on Monday. The Mofo doubts any of those guys are going to be talking about how cool any of the new guys they saw were and that’s really what the goal of getting all those new eyeballs has to be.

Now with all that said in the Mofo’s mind what’s really pertinent about the Monday Night Wars v2.0 is what it means for guys like the Mofo. That story tomorrow.

If you haven’t seen this yet or didn’t watch TNA then click on the link now and watch it.

http://www.f4wonline.com/content/view/11233/

The Mofo has seen a lot of strange things on wrestling shows over the years. The Christmas Creature. Oz. Barry Windham in camo. Ron Simmons as Spartacus. Shockmaster. Terry Funk with a Condom on his head. Sid being cheered in ECW. Disgraceland. The Johnsons. Cheex. The Ding Dongs. Doug Gilbert calling Jerry Lawler a child molester. Russell Roberts. This is the weirdest.

Honestly, The Mofo has no idea what to make of it. The Mofo is of the belief that if it’s on tv then it’s a work, but if this is a work then who are they trying to work? And if it’s a shoot then why is it on tv? The Mofo can’t remember any staff meeting at any job being broadcast and The Mofo worked in tv.

The Mofo can’t see what the point of the speech is. It seems like it’s supposed to be a “rah rah lets do it speech,” however, the tone doesn’t seem to fit that. It seems to be more of a frustrated wrist slapping kind of speech. Almost as if its a complaint about people complaining.

Is the point of the speech to say from this point forward, sit down, shut up, do your job, keep your mouth shut, and we don’t want your opinions. We are following one persons vision and we don’t want your input or ideas? Is the point of the speech that as long as your ideas follow our vision then we want to hear them? Was this a head’s up that a lot of guys and gals are about to lose their jobs?

It sure seemed to the Mofo that all the talent in the audience seemed to be completely confused by the speech as well. They sure didn’t seem to be inspired if that was the intent of the speech.

So what do you think? What’s your take on Dixie’s speech?

So over time certain people have told the Mofo that other people remind them of the Mofo. They may have said it the other way around, but The Mofo knew what they meant.

The Mofo wishes he could forget his first night in kyda when after the show some dumb kid came up and said when The Mofo walked out the curtain that he thought it was Austin Aries. There may or may not be truth to the rumor that The Mofo Fargo Elbowed that kid to death.

Anyway, most people think that The Mofo patterned himself after only guys from Memphis, but that isn’t exactly true. The Mofo has taken bits from lots of guys, but The Mofo patterned his work after only a few guys. The Mofo would love to hear who everyone thinks those people are?

So, who do you think is most like the Mofo?

Why anyone who knows what happened with Chris Benoit would try to emulate his style with a clear conscience?

Why anyone who sees the condition that Kurt Angle is in would try to emulate his style?

Why anyone who read the New York Times articles on concussions would continue to work that style unfettered and unfiltered?

Why anyone who’s heard Chris Nowinski talk about the effects of concussions wouldn’t think it’s time to change the way they do things?

Has anyone ever told you work harder not smarter? The Mofo doubts it. Hopefully, you’ve been told to work smarter not harder at some point in your life. Why do so many guys ignore that advice?

Just getting in the ring is a risk. There are so many things that can go wrong at any time. Just like with any other risk in life the smart people do everything that they can to mitigate that risk. Whether its investments, the stock market, movies, speeding, lifting weights, crossing the street or whatever. You know there is a risk involved, but you do what you can to mitigate that risk. You don’t do things to exacerbate that risk. You don’t see risks that others have taken that have not paid off and say to yourself “I’m going to do that too.”

The Mofo would rather guys stick needles in their asses than take those kinds of risks in the ring. Time and science have shown that you can survive steroids. If you take them correctly and judiciously and don’t abuse them you’ll have side affects and they will hurt you, but most likely they won’t kill you or leave you crippled.

When do we look ourselves in the mirror and realize what we are doing to ourselves? When do we look at each other and say, “Man you need to slow down you. You need to stop. You need to not do that. You need to sit out for a bit. You gotta take care of yourself.” We shake each others hands. We call each other brother. We hug each other and try to protect each other in the ring. When do we extend that consideration outside of the ring as well?
