Golden Age for Virginia Indies?
July 9, 2010People love to complain. The Mofo gets that, but the Mofo was looking at the airplanespin board the other day and saw the lineup for VCW’s next show on July 31st at The Hellenic Community Center at 60 Traverse Rd. in Norfolk, VA then thought about what NWA Fusion is doing and what GXW and SPW are doing and realized how great fans in VA have it right now.
You have Fusion doing old school, storyline focused, southern style pro-wrestling with great workers and promos with fresh matchups and angles. The next Meltdown taping on July 17th will reveal the secrets of the American Ranger’s unbelievable alliance with his arch-nemesis Sheik Ali Akbar, Preston Quinn and Larry Horsley will face Da New Bloodz for the NWA Fusion Tag Team Titles, Sean Denny will defend the Alpha Championship against his brother Marky D, and much more.
VCW has taken almost the “Super Indy” tact of bringing names to the area and what’s better they are putting them against locals guys and giving local guys great opportunities. Kermon getting to work with Necro. The Set working with Claudio and Hero. Esco and CW. Great stuff there. For any local fan who’s been talking about how much they’ve been wanting to see this exact thing they better get their butts to this show or just never speak again. Hell it’s interesting enough that the Mofo would consider going, but he’ll be in Tampa that weekend.
GXW and SPW are concentrating on training the young guys and giving them experience working in front of crowds and putting on shows all around their areas.
Basically, whatever it is you want as a wrestling fan you can find in Virginia right now. So get your butts out there and support them.
So what do you guys think? Is this a golden age for VA Indies?
