What’s Your Take?

November 7, 2009

If you haven’t seen this yet or didn’t watch TNA then click on the link now and watch it.

The Mofo has seen a lot of strange things on wrestling shows over the years. The Christmas Creature. Oz. Barry Windham in camo. Ron Simmons as Spartacus. Shockmaster. Terry Funk with a Condom on his head. Sid being cheered in ECW. Disgraceland. The Johnsons. Cheex. The Ding Dongs. Doug Gilbert calling Jerry Lawler a child molester. Russell Roberts. This is the weirdest.

Honestly, The Mofo has no idea what to make of it. The Mofo is of the belief that if it’s on tv then it’s a work, but if this is a work then who are they trying to work? And if it’s a shoot then why is it on tv? The Mofo can’t remember any staff meeting at any job being broadcast and The Mofo worked in tv.

The Mofo can’t see what the point of the speech is. It seems like it’s supposed to be a “rah rah lets do it speech,” however, the tone doesn’t seem to fit that. It seems to be more of a frustrated wrist slapping kind of speech. Almost as if its a complaint about people complaining.

Is the point of the speech to say from this point forward, sit down, shut up, do your job, keep your mouth shut, and we don’t want your opinions. We are following one persons vision and we don’t want your input or ideas? Is the point of the speech that as long as your ideas follow our vision then we want to hear them? Was this a head’s up that a lot of guys and gals are about to lose their jobs?

It sure seemed to the Mofo that all the talent in the audience seemed to be completely confused by the speech as well. They sure didn’t seem to be inspired if that was the intent of the speech.

So what do you think? What’s your take on Dixie’s speech?

  1. It comes off as a rah-rah, with a underlying feel that if you strike against, you’re history. But it seems the basis is probably having to do with the Hogan/Bischoff signing backlash, and she’s just getting across that it was time to be competitive, and quit just trying to “be something”, and that it’s gonna be a lot of uncharted territory they’re going into (especially knowing the track records of Hogan, Bisch, and their control of WCW), and you’re either gonna make it work, or you’re just gonna need to leave.

It’s really easy to understand if you just look at everything going on. It all is addressed without putting actual names in place so as to bring a negative vibe out.

But I think it got made public because the fans are just as much part of TNA as the wrestlers. ((Without fans, why run a show?)) So you can tell she was also addressing the fans who’ve been with TNA for a while that are starting to have serious doubt, now with the old WCW 1999/2000 team back in control. ((Hogan, Bischoff, Russo, Ferrara, etc.))

  2. Well, that was indeed interesting.

Clearly, with the amount of cameras and dedicated lighting that the speech was set up to be taped but maybe the boys didn’t know the content of Daisy’s speech. It wasn’t a “pep” talk in the traditional sence. The only time I’ve ever heard a speech like that was on a 3 and 3 football team where the coach was telling us we choose our own path for how the season turned out.
